The Mammal Society Spring Conference 2019

We presented a poster on the Saturday of the The Mammal Society’s 65th Spring conference in Glasgow. It was titled “E-vole-lution: The Evolution and Ecology of the Guernsey Vole” and detailed our recent research into the ecology and evolution of the Guernsey Vole, a race of Common Vole (Microtus arvalis), including a population estimate for Guernsey and evidence of island gigantism.

“Of Mice and Voles”

This talk took place on the 20th October 2018 at the Candie Museum, Guernsey, and was hosted by La Société Guernesiaise. It focused on the results of our research into the ecology and evolution of the Guernsey small mammals following our field work in the summer. We are very grateful to La Société for hosting us for a return talk to update its members on our research progress after our previous talk.

“Things that go squeak in the night: the mysterious mammals of the Channel Islands”

This talk took place on the 26th May 2018 at the Candie Museum, Guernsey, and was hosted by La Société Guernesiaise. The talk focused on the mammals of Guernsey, how they can be identified and interesting biological facts about them, as well as explaining our research on the island. We are grateful to La Société for hosting us, and also to the the audience who provided us with local knowledge that could aid us with our field work.
